Methods of Assessments

Method of Assessment

At IMBS Green Campus, student performance is evaluated through a combination of continuous assessments, assignments, and end-semester exams. This multi-faceted approach to assessment ensures a comprehensive evaluation of students’ knowledge, skills, and understanding of the subject matter. The following description outlines the methods used for each assessment criterion:

Continuous Assessments (40%):

Continuous assessments play a significant role in evaluating students’ progress throughout the academic term. These assessments are designed to gauge students’ understanding and retention of the course material over time.

  • Quizzes and Tests: Regular quizzes and tests are conducted to assess students’ grasp of concepts, comprehension, and application of knowledge. These assessments provide timely feedback on students’ understanding of the material covered in class.

Assignments (40%):

Assignments are an integral part of the assessment process, allowing students to demonstrate their understanding of course materials in a more comprehensive manner.

  • Presentations: Assignments that involve oral presentations provide students with an opportunity to communicate their ideas, research findings, and recommendations effectively. These assessments evaluate their presentation skills, critical thinking, and ability to engage an audience.

End Semester Exams (20%):

End semester exams are conducted at the conclusion of each academic term and assess students’ overall understanding of the course material.

Grading Criteria

Merit Pass:

A student registered for the Diploma will be awarded with distinction if they satisfy all of the following conditions:

  • Obtained grades “B” or better in all course modules.
  • Obtained a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 from all course modules.
  • Complete the relevant requirements at the first sitting.

Pass:

A student registered for the Diploma will be awarded the Diploma if they satisfy the following conditions:

  • Obtained grades of “C” or better in all course modules.
  • Obtained a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 from all course modules.
  • Complete the relevant requirements within the period of three years since first registration.

Final Grading:

Grading will be awarded by aggregating the marks for continuous assessments and the final examination. A grade point value, as indicated below, is assigned to each grade.
